Pharrell Williams has been appearing in many a collection presentation of late, but we have to say, we are in love with the idea of him creating a capsule collection for Adidas Originals. We are talking sports and luxe fabrics combining to open up a whole new category of apparel to choose from. That in itself is enough to capture and hold onto our attention these days. The Pharrell Williams for Adidas Originals collection itself is called Opulence Plus, while the images rotating about show off shirts and shoes submerged in pearls of all sizes, with glistening white shells. Pharrell Williams is certainly taking his new design gig seriously it appears.
He became known for his song “happy” that took over the world and somehow turned into every single city and community’s personalized commercial advertisement. The music artist has turned to the world of fashion these days and it appears to really be agreeing with him. He chanced upon certain inspiration while traipsing thought the le Marche Saint Pierre area of the Parisian historic textile market. What he was doing there is another story, but right now we are also itching to check out what we can find in such a place. What happened to catch his eye was a pair of lustrous vintage jacquards that had been intricately woven with metallic threads. We can imagine what he must have felt at that moment for such fabric used on a dress for ourselves would be just as fantastic as what he came up with for the design. The two pieces he found there now adorn his latest reworking of the classics that set Adidas apart, the Adidas Stan Smith design in particular.
The Jacquard pack really ups the ante with two limited edition unisex Stan Smiths, one of them coated in indigo blue with pink embroidery alongside the red and the gold, while the other comes in cream, and the embroidery is more along the lines of red, green and gold. This almost has us thinking of a Christmas piece, particularly due to the colors. While they are at it, a new type of digital photography trend is growing, wherein quirky GIFs are added to the images to draw the eyes. The animated features include moving fingers, nodding heads and fluttering leaves. It is a fantastic advertisement quirk that we are sure will be catching on soon enough. That and the lovely jacquard looks as well, for we have to admit that the Adidas sportswear certainly does look a whole lot more on the luxe side.
The extravagant Pharrell Williams for Adidas Originals Jacquard Pack will be hitting Adidas stores soon enough on May 30, not leaving behind the e-commerce field. What is most interesting about it all? There will only be 200 pars of each type of shoe that appears to have a rainforest sketched onto it so one better hurry up and get to it as soon as possible, for we expect it to run out in no time at all. We wonder, will the site break because of the high traffic this news brings?
