Burberry Prorsum Resort 2016 Collection

There is a new resort collection on the block and we are barely containing in our excitement! With piles of lace spun together by the talented Christopher Bailey and a whole lot of macramé and golden ribbons throughout, the Burberry Prorsum resort 2016 line is a rather intriguing collection that is very much in line with what we would expect from a Burberry line. The silhouettes are stiffer, the fabric newer and the whole of the outfits a whole lot more structured than that which we have gotten used to. It appears the bohemian looks will be taking a rest in 2016 if this particular collection meant for your vacation at an awesome resort or on a cruise is any indication. While we enjoyed the embellishments of 2015, the next year seems to be all about the fitted looks with the feminine flair, channelling the more classic versions of the female silhouette, but adding a more modern point of view as well. Single pieces are back in, a reprieve from the crop top and twin set skirts that we got used to, something that even appeared in the latest Cannes amFAR Gala. Now, the focus is on heavily done up statement dresses and coats. It is an interesting turn of events, without a doubt.

We see lovely combinations of white Nottingham lace and black macramé flowers in the Burberry Prorsum resort 2016 collection. There is Chantilly lace as well that appears in cornflower blue and salmon hued pinks, while the structured metallic gold ribbons give it something to really talk about, with its military braiding. Burberry has been seen a lot on the red carpet of late, meaning that a collection by the label must also include suitable gowns. Here, we do see three pieces in similar structure, one particular black piece with its slim line, high waist and done up in black mesh and flecks of metallic silver embroidery. It has recurring themes with the plunging neckline, except that the open chest is instead covered with the black mesh, the skirts falling straight down to the floor, with sleeves long and the dress itself showing off skin underneath the translucent fabric.

Other details noticed throughout were the focus on the midi length of the skirt, whether just above the knee or a few inches below. The high necklines were constants here, while the clean lines were strategically placed for a dramatic feel. The dress textures alone were splendid, kind of like the haircalf design that was laser cut in order to resemble lace. There was a dark trench coat that really caught our attention, what with the sculpted skirt and the embroidered strips of cotton resembling an Aztec geometric carving. There was a really cosy piece that was made from lamb shearling and had a zebra pattern, a sexy outfit that has us wanting to dance the night away, even in the freezing days of winter, the animal theme common enough throughout the collection. Many of the skirts are simply lace and that means showing off the silhouette of the body underneath, limbs barely hidden under the waves of pretty fabric. Lace on lace combinations showed up many a time as well, while we are convinced those animal print shoes and handbags would look best in our closets at this point.
